What kinds of students succeed in this school?

            The students who do well in our school are those who are bright, intellectually driven, creative, motivated to learn, and who benefit from a warm and low pressured environment.  When we remove the pressures that exist in a typical educational environment, our students thrive. The students who succeed are also committed to regular attendance and adherence to the daily schedule. Consistency is key to developing an affinity for the subject matter and for feeling engaged with fellow students, staff, and intellectually.

Where do students come from?

            Our students come from Passaic, Teaneck, Staten Island, Monsey, Highland Park, Lakewood and other surrounding areas.  Families come from far and wide because we serve a specific and unique niche in Jewish education

Do you have a dorm?

            No, we do not have a dorm.  Our students go home to family each evening. 

Will my child receive a high school diploma?

            We issue a high school diploma to each student who meets the graduation requirements as set forth by the State of NJ.  Our curriculum offers all of the required coursework to complete these requirements.  If a student joins as a transfer HS student, we will work with the student and family to evaluate their transcript and to help them fill in the missing required coursework throughout their time at The Studio

Do your students have behavior problems?

            Our students are motivated learners who are refined and respectful in their attitudes and interpersonal interactions.  We do not accommodate students who have disruptive, rebellious, or dangerous behaviors.  Our students follow a prescribed schedule, engage appropriately in classes, are religiously committed, and are proactive in their learning. 

Are you a therapeutic school?

            No, we are not a therapeutic school and we do not offer therapy.  Our curriculum is infused with robust Social Emotional Learning, and our staff are trained to interact with students in a sensitive manner.  We welcome the input of students’ families and therapy providers to maximize students’ educational experiences.

Are you a special education school?

            No, we are not a special education school.  As an alternative education model, our school accommodates diverse learners, with an emphasis on a strengths-based approach.

What kinds of families attend the school?

            The families in our school are committed and strong advocates of their daughters.  Our parents are involved, communicative, responsive, and work hard for their daughters’ growth.  Our families have strong values and have a warm, frum home environment where their daughters thrive

How many students do you have capacity for?

            We are designed as a micro-school, and our goal is to remain a small and warm micro-school community.  At this time we have capacity for ten learners.

How do you teach?  In person or online?

            Our philosophy promotes the maximum amount of in-person instruction, and minimizes the use of technology as an instructional tool.  We believe students benefit most from interactive and dynamic in person quality instruction.  We supplement our instruction via use of online resources on a limited basis to meet individual needs

How do your students learn if there are no homework and tests?

            We follow a progressive educational model which utilizes project based learning as well as portfolio assessments to showcase and assess learning and progress.  Our students deliver presentations of their learning and of their projects throughout each semester.  Children are natural learners, and given the right environment, their curiosity and intrinsic motivation drives their learning.

Do you have a dress code?

       We have a dress code of appropriate sleeve solid blue shirts and dark skirts of appropriate length.  We do not police dress code:  we trust our families to transmit values of tznius to their daughters and to ensure a respectful, refined appearance at school.  We promote an atmosphere of Achdus and acceptance, and our students do not feel peer pressure or judgment in regard to dress code.

Do you allow students to try it out? What if I don’t like it?

During the admissions process, we encourage families to ask questions, spend some time observing a class and interact with staff and students. We expend a lot of time and energy during the admissions process to ensure a goodness of fit between students and our school, and to facilitate a smooth transition for each student. We do not offer trial or temporary enrollment. Every parent signs a tuition contract which commits the family’s participation for the duration of the full school year. This policy allows the school to maintain the utmost stability for our current students and it allows us the maximum ability to help each student to acclimate, grow, and benefit from our rich program.
